What is body buttercream?
A body buttercream is made from hard butters such as Shea, Cocoa butter, Mango butter, Kokum butter or other various butters combined with a few different carrier oils and essential oils. These butters can be store-bought which most are combined with water to make a creamier base that’s a bit thicker than lotion. Most butters that are made in the DIY tutorials that you may find on YouTube with the ingredients that I listed above are all combined to make a light and fluffy or ultra-thick oil-based body buttercream.
These butters and oils are combined in a double boiler method to keep from overheating the butters and oils. They are premeasured and placed over a pot of boiling water on low heat until the butter and oils are completely melted. The essential oils are usually added at the cool-down phase once the butter has been cooled and hand-blended a few times.
What are the benefits of using a body butter?
Using a natural body buttercream has many benefits. A body buttercream is going to be much thicker than a lotion but will hold the moisture in your skin a lot longer than a lotion would. With the body butter being an oil-based product, it’s not going to leave oil prints on your clothing or whatever you touch as a regular oil would. They are still created to absorb slightly quick and the absorption rate depends on the ingredients that are used.
The benefits of body butter will be that it is going to act as a protective layer on the skin helping to protect against free radicals and environmental damage. The skin is the largest organ and absorbs the most so taking care of your skin is going to be vital for your overall health. Body buttercreams help to reduce wrinkles and fade marks over time, this will not completely get rid of old marks and wrinkles but will help with fading the appearance. They contain beneficial antioxidants like vitamin C, A, and E, helps with adding long-lasting moisture to the skin. So that you are using less product over time and saving money on skincare products.
Body Buttercreams can be used as an all-over body moisturizer, the best time is after a shower or bath when your skin is still a little moist. You can apply a body butter by using broad massaging strokes. These creams are often used to help reduce stretch marks and would make the best body butters for pregnancy. The fatty acids help to nourish and revitalize your skin and improve the complexion of the skin.
You can use a body buttercream to soothe freshly shaved skin, just warm up the body butter between the palms of your hands and apply to the shaved area. It will help the skin stay smooth and hydrated throughout the day. The number one reason to use a body buttercream is to effectively rejuvenate dry and chapped skin, an oil-based body butter, unlike a body cream mentioned earlier most on the market today are filled with harsh chemicals, fragrances, and other toxic ingredients. It is not going to be safe for you in the long run and will keep your skin dry.
